Lawrence County Extension offers virtual classes

Typically UT Extension host many agriculture and horticulture educational programs in the winter months to help prepare producers and homeowners for the upcoming growing season. As Covid-19 continues to be a concern most UT Extension “Masters Programs” will be offered virtually this winter. Below is a list of these programs that will be offered:

LAWRENCE COUNTY MASTER GARDENER CLASS—2 options

Option 1—Daytime

Classes will start on February 2nd and continue each Tuesday through April 27th. The daytime class will be from 9am-11am each day.

Option 2—Evening

Classes will start on February 1st and continue each Monday and Thursday evening through March 29th. The evening class will be from 6pm-8pm each evening.

The cost for the class is $100 for an individual and $125 for a couple. The registration deadline for the classes is Friday, January 25th.

MASTER BEEF PRODUCER CLASS

The class will start with an orientation on Thursday, January 21st and the rest of the classes will begin on Monday, January 25th and continue each Monday through March 22nd. These classes will be from 5:30pm-7pm each evening.

The cost for the class is $50 if paid by the January 21st deadline and $75 if paid after January 21st.

MASTER HORSE PROGRAM

The class will start on Thursday, January 14 and continue each Thursday evening through March 25th. The evening class will be from 6pm-7:30pm each evening. The cost of the class is $175.

Master Small Ruminant Producer Class

The class will start on Tuesday, January 26 and continue each Tuesday evening through March 30th. The evening class will be from 5:30pm-7pm each evening. The cost of the class is $110. The registration deadline is Friday, January 22.

MASTER FARM MANAGER CLASS

The class will start on Thursday, January 21st and continue each evening through March 11th. The evening class will be from 6pm-7:30pm each evening.

The cost of the class is $100. The Farm Manager Class will qualify previously certified Master Beef and Small Ruminant Producers as a recertification.

The deadline to register for the class is Wednesday, January 20.

Each class requires registration through the Lawrence County Extension Office. The classes will be taught via “Zoom” so participants will need to access to the internet to participate.
